2017: Springtime at the Everett
The bulbs start to appear: hyacinth, daffodil, and emperor tulips ...
Then comes forsythia, that first harbinger of New England spring,
Followed by blossoms on the Clap pear, viburnum, lunaria or money plant, and the nodding hellebore ...
Suddenly the cherry blossoms burst out, near the beach plums and the purple tulips
Check out the before and after for the redbud and the dawn redwood trees
Saturday, May 13, members of the Jones Hill Civic Association volunteered at the Everett for the Love your Block event
The workday included extensive trash pickup all around the schoolyard, recycling, transfer of organic material from the parking lot to the raised garden beds, some weeding and invasive tree removals. Thanks to Christian Hurley, Kit Binns, Bridget Curd, Josh Smith and Michael Kozuch.

Wow, what a clean parking lot; cherry blossom "snow" mulch; raised garden beds ready to incorporate that leaf mulch into the soil before planting
Horse chestnut sprouts found nearby their mother tree
Blooming now: fothergilla or bottle brush plant and blue flax; blooming soon: strawberry flowers
The giant hackberry may be slow to leaf out, but the little red maple is looking good after a little trim
